Why: All proceeds from this event benefit Father Joe's Villages. This is our first summer fundraiser and each volunteer makes $10 for the club which we are going to put toward our project to fund a school in India or Africa!
San Diego Triathlon
10th Annual Rock 'n' Roll Marathon!

What: San Diego is where the rockin’ started! Celebrate the 10th Annual Rock 'n' Roll Marathon on June 3 with 45 bands, 2000 cheerleaders and thousands of spectators along the course. Last year, over 4,000 Race Crew volunteers supported 20,000 racers. This event has raised over $97.1 million net for the Leukemia & Lymphoma Society.
We will be working at the Finish Line and will be doing any of the following tasks: checked gear retrieval, chip removal, refreshment zone, awards, pedestrian traffic control, or medical tent.

Arthritis Walk

What: Join hundreds of fellow San Diegans for a stroll around the bay in the fight to end arthritis. The Arthritis Walk features a three-mile and one-mile course with activities for the entire family. We will be helping on monitoring the course and water stations. We will also get free volunteer t-shirts too! Fesitivities include free food, beverages, exhibits and a Kidz Fun Zone with clowns, balloons, face painting, and more! Contact Michelle if you haven't signed up yet and you would like to.
When: Sunday, May 20, 6:30 AM - 10:00 AM. We will meet in front of TPHS at 6:00 AM to arrange carpools.

The event is located at Embarcadero Marina Park North, Downtown San Diego. It is at the very South end of Kettner Boulevard, past Harbor Drive through Seaport Village.

CRB Annual Picnic
What? Come to the CRB Annual Picnic and Potluck at the Rancho Bernardo Community Park!
Help out by working at the Kid Zoe with rock climbing, face painting, games and inflatables. There will also be volunteer opportunites for set-up, clean-up and food distribution.
When? Memorial Day May 28, 2007 at 11:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.

Del Mar Heights Elementary School Carnival

What: We will be running stations for an elementary school carnival. We are in charge of inflatables (obstacle course, jousting, blow up slide and other fun activities.) We need tons of volunteers, and it is going to be really fun because we get to work with little kids!'

Cesar Chavez Day: Build A Playground

What: In commemoration of Cesar Chavez Day we will take part in a community-wide playground construction project. Activities include assembling equipment, landscaping, painting, hauling safety equipment, and mixing concrete just to name a few. All types of volunteers are needed with every type of skill – there is a job for everyone. Whatever your role may be, it’s guaranteed to be a lot of fun!
When: March 31, 8:00 AM to 3:00 PM. We will meet in front of TPHS at 7:30 to arrange carpools.

Trail Cleanup

What: Clearing out invasive plants, repairing erosion damage, planting trees, picking up trash, and doing other maintenance on one of San Diego's many trails. Wear sunblock and close-toed shoes. Water and refreshments will be provided.
When: Sunday, March 25, 1:00 pm - 3:00 pm. We will meet at the front of TPHS at 12:45 to arrange carpools.
Where: Del Mar. Directions will be provided when we meet.
San Diego Indie Music Festival
Event Chair: Jae Rho (822-9554)
What: We will be helping with miscellaneous tasks at the music festival. They will need people to help with stage crew, hauling equipment backstage, etc. For volunteering, you will get FREE admission (normally $23) to the festival. After your shift you will free to either work more shifts or go listen to the bands. It's a huge event! There will be over 70 bands present. More info here.
When: Saturday, March 3, beginning at 6:00 AM. You are asked to work a 4-hour shift (any of the ones below), after which doing another shift is optional. Hey, you might get some cool goodies and/or meet some bands. Shifts are:
6:00 AM - 8:00 AM
8:00 AM - 12:00 PM
12:00 AM- 4:00 PM
4:00 PM - 8:00 PM
8:00 -12:00 PM
12:00 AM- 2:00 AM
Where: Get directions at here. Volunteers will have to provide their own transportation, because we'll be doing different shifts.

Officer elections for the 2007-2008 term will be held next meeting, February 21, 2007. Do not miss this meeting! Be there to elect your new President, Vice President, Secretary, and Treasurer!
All candidates will give a short speech before members vote. If you are interested in running and have not yet informed me, you must do so by Friday, and I will give you further instructions. I will not accept any excuses!
