TP Basketball Tournament

What: Help man a concession stand or hand out flyers and t-shirts at one of the largest high school basketball tournaments in the nation. Seventy nine schools will be participating in the tournament, which will take place at multiple gyms in the area, TPHS being one of them! Each shift will have two volunteers, so keep that in mind and sign up with a friend :)

Special Olympics Floor Hockey Championships

What: Keep scores for games per team, track time in penalty box, and assist with start/finish timerat the Special Olympics' Fall Games Floor Hockey Championship.

Girls Rock Run/5K




What: The Girls Rock 5K Walk/Run will be benefiting The Jenna Druck Foundation's Young Women’s Leadership program which provides leadership training to middle and high school young women in San Diego County. We expect this day to be a fun filled family event and would love to have you as a volunteer.

Mt. Carmel/Westview PTP Party

What: Mt. Carmel/Westview PTP Party. Admission is $10. There will be food (Panda Express, chips, ice cream, s'mores, etc) and games (twister, cranium, card games, video games, and park games). There will also be blasting music which you know means... DANCING!


When: Saturday, November 27th from 5pm-9pm.

Where: 9791 Deer Trail Drive, San Diego, CA

Why: The proceeds will benefit the Pediatric Trauma Program. The program provides funds to train pediatric doctors and to purchase pediatric medical equipment. Some proceeds will also go to the Mt. Carmel Key Club and the Westview Key Club.

What: one of the biggest Key Club events of the year

When: November 20th

Why: to raise money for the Pediatric Trauma Prevention Program, key Club Spirit, experience motivational programs, divisional spirit rally, meet new people

Who: Key Clubbers from all over Socal and Nevada

Cost: $66 on time payment (date passed), $75 for late payment (due before November 19th) which includes transportation, a divisional shirt, a spirit pack, and admission into the park

Silver Strand Half Marathon

What: Assist at the race by manning the water station, cheering on the runners, and other miscellaneous tasks.

Trick-or-Treat for Cans

What: Collect cans from neighborhoods around TPHS! Canned/packaged food will go toward the Nov. 21 Thanksgiving Basket Brigade, which will organize food baskets for needy families over the holidays. Help us out by bringing a group of your friends and Trick-or-Treat for cans!

When: Saturday, Oct. 30 (meet at school at 2:30 p.m., event will end at around 5:00 p.m.)

KOZ Woman's Triathlon

WHAT: Help out at a triathlon by handing out water, manning finish line posts and cheering on athletes at a triathlon supporting breast cancer research.


This is another event that helps fundraise for TPKC; $10 for each volunteer that goes - it will help fund DCON 2011 and go toward the ELIMINATE project fighting maternal-neonatal tetanus.

KOZ Mission Bay Triathlon

What: Be a part of the volunteer team for the Mission Bay Triathlon, which benefits the Challenged Athletes Foundation. CAF raises funds for disabled individuals to purchase special adaptive sports equipment, train and travel to sporting events. We will be signing up for volunteering positions at the finish line, such as water stations, manning refreshment booths or logging times at the finish line! This event also helps fundraise for TPKC, because we get $10 for every volunteer that attends; some of the funds we receive will go toward the 2011 District Convention in Anaheim, while the rest will go toward the ELIMINATE project battling maternal-neonatal tetanus.

WHAT: Regional Training Conference (RTC) is an entire day for Key Clubbers and non-Key Clubbers (everyone is invited!) to receive training and knowledge on various aspects of Key Club or life in general. This year's ouRTC will consist of workshops ranging from officer training, PTP and Project Shine overviews, SAT workshop, advisor training, running for office, a diversity workshop, and more!

WHAT ELSE:
~talent show: Performances can range from singing, dancing, reciting poetry or a monologue, playing an instrument, demonstrating weird talents that all of us secretly have, etc. If you are interested in auditioning, turn in your audition video to Vivian Yu and Donald Quach by September 21st. Cardiovascular disease is the No. 1 killer of all Americans and congenital cardiovascular defects are the most common cause of infant death from birth defects. We will be helping the American Heart Association raise money for research and life-saving information.

Community and Habitat Cleanup Qualcomm Stadium

What: As part of the September 11 National Day of Service and Remembrance, help clean up the San Diego River by getting rid of trash and other junk that is making our beautiful river gross and dirty. Make sure to dress for working outdoors including closed shoes (no sandals please!) a hat and sunscreen are also highly recommended, we will have all tools and supplies.

What: Volunteer at a run benefiting local charities - the San Diego Fire Rescue Foundation, Surfrider, the Make-a-Wish Foundation, Jeans for Justice and Volunteer San Diego. Officer Training Conference & August DCM

What: The Officer Training Conference (OTC) is open to all Key Club members, and is a great way to learn more about Key Club on the divisional level. If you are interested in becoming more involved with Key Club, running for a position or learning about new opportunities, this is a great event to go to. Meet Key Clubbers from over 15 different high schools in our area and talk to our divisional leadership as well.


Also, The Kiwanis Youth Development and Support Club of San Diego (KYDS Club) is working on a service project and would love our help.

They are currently collecting new and gently used books to benefit foster youth throughout San Diego County. There are currently over 1,600 licensed foster homes in San Diego county, providing a loving and stable home environment for anywhere between 1 - 5 youth at any given time. With school getting back into session soon, they are trying to make the new school year a positive one. Books on any topic of interest to youth between 3-18 are welcome. (:

USA Junior Triathlon

What: The USA Junior Triathlon is a national competition held in Downtown San Diego at the San Diego Marine Corps Recruit Depot (near the Airport). Volunteers will be helping out with the Bike Course by directing them where to go, etc. Volunteers will receive a free T-shirt! KPBS Pledge Event

What: Assist in answering phones and enter caller information during a live KPBS broadcast.
When: June 5th from 6:30PM-10:30PM. Meet at school at 6PM!
Where: 5200 Campanile Dr. San Diego, CA 92182 (SDSU)

Dinner, snacks, coffee, and other refreshments will be provided. There will also be an optional tour of the KPBS set some time during the event.

There is a maximum of 12 volunteers for this event!

Solana Highlands Carnival

What: Run carnival-type booths (take tickets, pass out prizes, supervise) for K-4th graders, and assist parents with jumpy jumps, giant slides, dunk tanks, snow cones, etc.
When: June 4th from 4-8PM
Where: Solana Highlands
Why: cuz carnivals are fun!! :D

You will need to find your own means of transportation to get to Solana Highlands for this event! We will not be providing rides since Solana Highlands is so close. If you encounter issues with rides tho please let us know and we will help you figure something out. Don't let that prevent you from volunteering!

What: Division 37 South Key Club is hosting its annual end of the year banquet and we would love to have you come to help us celebrate the achievements of this past year's officers and members with dinner, awards, dancing, and an officer SILENT AUCTION.AUCTION DETAILS: We have selected people from various schools (they know who they are already) to be auctioned off (auctionees will be revealed at the banquet). The divisional points system will determine how much 'money' (tickets) each person from a school will receive and those will be used to bid on people. You MAY pool tickets with other people. The winners will receive a slow dance and a rose ;)This will also be the D37S June DCM!

Cost: $10 (covers dinner, awards, DJ) and NO TICKETS WILL BE SOLD AT THE DOOR!

Amazing Quest, Year-End Party, Family BBQ and Silent Auction

Where: Solana Pacific
When: May 14th, 2010
Time: 5:00 pm – 9:00 pm
What: We will be volunteering as Race Officials for the Amazing Quest stations, with the silent auction and sale of opportunity drawing raffle tickets, with the food service stations for the pizza and water distribution for racers (in the Solana Pacific auditorium) and the BBQ (Phil's BBQ is the caterer), and with a few games (cake walk and small games). There will be a DJ at the event.

9th Annual San Elijo Lagoon Day!

What: As a part of San Elijo Lagoon Conservancy, this event is to raise awareness for one of San Diego's last estuaries. :( We will be helping out with some booths, such as face painting, arts and crafts for the children, and perhaps learn a thing or two about preserving the San Elijo Lagoon!

What: Help preserve open space park lands by picking up trash, removing non-native plants, planting native plants (depending on time of year) and maintaining the trail. Tools and gloves are provided. You should wear closed-toe shoes and protection from the sun (hat, sunscreen, etc) and bring a water bottle to stay hydrated.
