Reminders for Winter Break

GREETINGS FELLOW KEY CLUBBERS!

'Tis season to do more community service now that the holidays are around the corner! We know it's break, so obviously everyone has time to do some service via Key Club. (Unless, you, you know, have to go to Granny's casa or something.) The Key Club Board does have some reminders for all of you:

- Keep updated with new events through our wonderful website and emails. (Yes, we know that they can be long and annoying, but how else would you know what's going on with KC unless you actually open the email and read it too??)

- We purposely got more volunteering opportunities during the break so be sure to take advantage of them, as finals are coming up soon and you (and we) won't have time to go or coordinate events...

- If you haven't already, please email us if you are interested in going to an event. (Ask your parents if they can give rides too, because no rides=no volunteering=SUCKS FOR ALL OF US)

-If you do not email us or talk to us in person and you just show up out of nowhere, you waste our time trying to figure out rides and we might end up having to send you home because we might not have rides for you. If we DO have enough rides for you, then we can only give you half of the hours offered. (Sorry, but it's a harsh world out there, Bud.)

- Stay warm and be safe! Enjoy this break.

Remember that your Key Club Board LOVES you. Don't you forget that.

LOVE,

Your TPHS Key Club Board.

JA BIZTOWN <3

What: At JA BizTown, the students are in charge! They become “grown-ups” for a day in an interactive life sized city that reflects San Diego County businesses and architecture. In each business, students work as a CEO, CFO, or a business-specific job such as the bank teller at WaMu or San Diego National Bank or a guest service specialist at Jack in the Box. Throughout the day, they earn a paycheck, deposit it in the bank, write checks for purchases in our bustling shops, and pay bills – just like real life! The students leave JA BizTown feeling personally successful after spending the day working hard at their jobs. They also leave with a greater understanding of the value of a dollar, the importance of teamwork, and how to be a contributing citizen in the community. The time spent at JA BizTown is only one day, but the impact will last a life time.

What we will be doing: We are assigned to one of our exciting BizTown shops. We will answer questions from students and mentor them on making wise business and personal financial decisions. We will assist with their break schedules. We will be given "Biz dollars" so that we can shop at BizTown too!
