Trick-or-Treat for Cans

What: Collect cans from neighborhoods around TPHS! Canned/packaged food will go toward the Nov. 21 Thanksgiving Basket Brigade, which will organize food baskets for needy families over the holidays. Help us out by bringing a group of your friends and Trick-or-Treat for cans!

When: Saturday, Oct. 30 (meet at school at 2:30 p.m., event will end at around 5:00 p.m.) 

Where: around TPHS, so no rides!

Notes: bags and Trick-or-Treat for UNICEF boxes will  be provided, we will also distribute a handout of what you can say to donors, and a map of each groups route

Feeding America San Diego

What: A variety of projects such as sorting, organizing, cleaning, and repacking bulk food into family size bags. Volunteers will sort through donations and organize food into categories for the 165 agencies to easily gather what is needed in the community the next day.

Where: 9151 Rehco Road #B, San Diego, CA 92121

When: Saturday, October 30th

Time: 9:00AM - 12:00PM (meet at TPHS at 8:35AM for rides)

All volunteers MUST wear closed-toe shoes (tennis shoes, running shoes, etc.) Wear appropriate warehouse clothes that you don't mind getting dirty or stained. The distribution center does not have AC or heat - we urge you to dress accordingly.

You must fill out this WAIVER to attend.

Health, Wellness, Art & Music KIDS FEST

What: Helping out at a kids festival hosted by the San Diego Coastal Chamber of Commerce with proceeds that benefit the Egoscue Foundation.

When: THIS SUNDAY, OCTOBER 24th [12pm-5pm]

Where: Top level of the parking structure at 3811 Valley Centre (across from Scripps)

KPBS Pledge Event

What: Volunteers help take phone calls on air at the KPBS studio. There will be PRIZES at this event! Not just any gift but official KPBS logo items. Prizes for most calls, highest donation, most coffee consumed, etc. There will also be brief tours of the KPBS studio after the event and KPBS stickers for everyone.

When: Saturday, October 23rd from 8pm-10:45pm (meet at school at 7:30pm for rides)

Where: 5200 Campanile Drive, San Diego, CA 92182 (SDSU)

*Dinner, snacks, coffee, and other refreshments will be provided. Volunteers work shifts of 20 minute intervals, with plenty of breaks in between. Volunteers must also wear business casual attire.

*This event has a MAXIMUM OF 5 VOLUNTEERS!! So If you are interested in attending this event, let us know ASAP so that you reserve your spot before all the spots are taken.

Halloween Carnival

When? October 23rd, 8:00-1:00pm (meet at school at 7:30 a.m. for rides)

Where? Near SDSU, Clap Park

What? We'll be helping out at a Halloween carnival.

Bike MS

What: Help man a water station, refreshment stand and set up signs at a stop along a 100-mile bike route! Cheer on riders helping fundraise for research on Multiple Sclerosis, an autoimmune disease that targets the brain and spinal cord.

When: October 16, Saturday (10 a.m. - 4 p.m.)
TWO SHIFTS:

10 a.m. - 2 p.m. (meet at TPHS at 9:30 a.m. for rides)
1 p.m. - 4 p.m. (meet at the event)

Memory Walk

Where: Balboa Park on the corner of Park and President’s Way.

Time:
6:30 a.m. (Meet at TPHS at 6:00 a.m. for rides)

What:
Cheerleading/Course Assistants (please see attached description)

Dress: You should wear comfortable clothing such as jeans and sneakers. Every volunteer will be given a free t-shirt!


Waiver: Please complete the attached form before you arrive as this will help the check-in process run smoother. If you are under the age of 18, you must have this signed by a parent or guardian before the event.

KOZ Woman's Triathlon

WHAT: Help out at a triathlon by handing out water, manning finish line posts and cheering on athletes at a triathlon supporting breast cancer research.


This is another event that helps fundraise for TPKC; $10 for each volunteer that goes - it will help fund DCON 2011 and go toward the ELIMINATE project fighting maternal-neonatal tetanus.

WHEN: Saturday, Oct. 16th 9 a.m. - 4 p.m. (meet at school at 8:30 a.m.)
